This publication provides guidance to EIGA members, specifically to site managers, technical managers, and company environmental specialists on some best available techniques for Acetylene production in the industrial gases industry. It gives guidance on compliance with EC Directive 2008/1/EC Integrated Pollution Prevention & Control, which has been recast into EC Directive 2010/75/EU Industrial Emissions and associated BREFs.

Whilst the use of key performance indicators is common at individual company level, their application across industry is restricted because they are not harmonised in a universally shared management model for process safety. This publication covers the selection, collection and validation of data. Multiple indicators are needed to monitor the different dimensions of process safety. The guidance in this publication is intended to contribute to developing process safety metrics, such that the number and the severity of process safety incidents can be reduced.

Guide on the removal of external contamination from medical gas containers so that the process does not damage the container or its accessories and protects personnel handling medical gas containers

This publication gives a method to establish the acceptance criteria for impact damage on Type 3 and Type 4 cylinders and tubes and specifies the tests to be performed for producing pictures of acceptable and non-acceptable defects. The publication is intended to supplement EN ISO 11623, Gas cylinders – Composite construction – Periodic inspection and testing.

Small hydrogen plants used in, for example, fuelling applications have a low environmental impact due to size and technology employed. Over regulation of these plants is a barrier to the development of hydrogen as an energy carrier. On-site hydrogen production is also expected to be required in relation to road vehicle refuelling. This publication is on the environmental impacts and operational controls for these packaged hydrogen plants and is intended to be used as guidance for permitting these plants so that simpler permitting can be applied.
