This publication considers the safety aspects of the design, construction, installation, operation and maintenance of nitrous oxide plants that use ammonium nitrate technology for nitrous oxide production.

This publication has been prepared to cover the safety requirements and best practices for the installation and use of equipment for the chilling and freezing of food using liquefied cryogenic gases (liquid nitrogen) or refrigerated liquefied gases (liquid carbon dioxide) as the cooling medium. The publication covers operation, maintenance, and certain design aspects of steam reformers relative to the potential safety hazards of the combustion process inherent to these units.

This publication addresses the safety issues that are specific to the storage of hydrogen in systems located underground. This publication covers the requirements specific to the installation of a hydrogen storage system in an underground space with top or side access, hereafter called a vault, including liquid hydrogen storage and ancillary systems and compressed hydrogen storage composed of a single container, or multiple cylinders or tubes.

This publication identifies the general hazards, and provides guidance to reduce their frequency and consequences. It provides safety guidance and addresses design and operating practices only as they affect safety and addresses both cryogenic ASU and HYCO processes.

EIGA Doc 169 known as the « Classification and Labelling Guide » is updated regularly in order to take into account the changes in the CLP Regulation and the changes in the classification of gases due to the REACH registration of substances that have occurred.

This publication provides technical guidance and the complete equation set needed to determine if a particular vessel can or cannot be over pressurized during the refill operation. The calculations in this publication should be used to evaluate each pumping system and cryogenic tank combination in use with oxygen, nitrogen, or argon.

EIGA members are receiving more and more requests for the "carbon footprint" of their products. This document presents the basis of a methodology for EIGA members to calculate a "product carbon footprint" that is applicable to industrial gases products, and guidelines on how to communicate this information to stakeholders. This document proposes the methodology, sources of emission factors and the scope and borders to be considered and applied by EIGA members when calculating a carbon footprint for products. These principals are based on and have been developed from currently established national and international standard methodologies.

This publication provides guidelines for plant managers, distribution managers, line managers, environmental specialists and others involved with gas cylinder management on the safe and responsible management of all cylinders (excluding acetylene gas cylinders) at the end of their service life. These cylinders are referred to in this publication as waste gas cylinders. This document was previously published as Doc 166/16, Guidelines on Management of Waste Gas Cylinders. It has now been extensively revised with its scope expanded from gas cylinders of a composite construction to apply to all gas cylinders (excluding acetylene gas cylinders) made of seamless steel, aluminium alloy, welded steel and a composite construction. Acetylene gas cylinders are excluded as they are covered by EIGA Doc 05, Guidelines for the Management of Waste Acetylene Cylinders.
