This publication discusses non-destructive test methods which may be used as an alternative to proof pressure testing for cylinders and storage vessels. Three test methods are described in this publication, that also provides recommendations for their use and information on the present state of standardisation and legal status: the Ultrasonic Examination Test (UET), the Acoustic Emission Test (AET) and the Modular Acoustic Emission (MAE) test are more advanced methods when compared to the proof pressure test.

It is intended to serve as a guide to assist in putting in place a formal environmental management system that can be certified by an accredited third party verifier. It also aims to provide a guide for operations managers for identifying and reducing the environmental impacts of these operations.

EIGA publication Doc 94 Environmental Impacts of Air Separation Units details the environmental impacts of air separation units (ASU) and gives guidelines on how to reduce the impacts. This document provides a standardised list that can be used in any industrial gas company. The document is intended to be used by facility managers and all those involved in environmental management on industrial and medical gases sites including air separation and helium production facilities, hydrogen and carbon monoxide facilities, and carbon dioxide facilities. It also provides good environmental practices for truck maintenance and distribution, acetylene and nitrous oxide manufacturing, cylinder fill operations, specialty gases operations and customer installation (bulk tanks) activities.
