WG-1 and the UN SubCommittee Transport Dangerous Goods

During last June meeting of the UN SubCommittee Transport Dangerous Goods in Geneva, EIGA successfully defended and obtained adoption of their 3 papers.

  • Thanks to the Chair of WG4 and with perseverance during more than 5 years, a new entry UN 3553 number was approved for Disilane, assuring that this pyrophoric gas, spontaneously flammable in air, like all other pyrophoric materials in the UN Model Regulations are forbidden for transport by air freight, in cargo and passenger aircraft.
  • A mistake was corrected in P200: two filling ratios are given for ACETYLENE, DISSOLVED (UN 1001) and ACETYLENE, SOLVENT FREE (UN 3374). For the first test pressure, special packing provision “c, p” are mentioned, but not for the second test pressure, although this provision applies for both test pressures. This omission is now corrected. Note that special provisions apply to all lines and not just to the line where it is stated.
  • In the autumn 2021 session of the Joint Meeting of the ADR/RID Committee of Experts and the Working Party on the Transport of Dangerous Goods (WP.15/AC.1), transitional provisions for the amendments to 6.2.1.5.2 (for closed cryogenic receptacles), 6.2.2.7.3 (k) (Acetylene cylinders ) and (l) and 6.2.2.11 (closures of refillable pressure receptacles ) were adopted. These transitional measures now also are listed in the UN Model Regulations.
