Happy New Year 2024

On behalf of the whole EIGA Team, let me wish you a wonderful year 2024.
We hope it brings you joy and health.
But we also wish for 2024 to be a successful year for our sector. Both challenges and opportunities will be there: decarbonisation, competitiveness, technology and safety will be our key topics.
We are starting the year with our Winter Summit (24-25 January). This is a great opportunity to see many of you and to address hydrogen.
And we will soon announce the theme of our Winter Summit 2025, which will no doubt trigger your interest!
With a busy year ahead of us, let's not forget what makes the strength of EIGA: the involvement of its Members.

Roberto Sestini, President of SIAD, passed away on 6 January, at the age of 88.
Nicknamed the “King of Gases”, he was acknowledged as a pillar of the industrial gases sector.

He led the SIAD Group for more than 50 years and had been an active supporter of EIGA over the years. His nomination as EIGA Honorary Member was a tribute to his involvement.
We will remember his kindness, his elegance, and his passion for the sector.
Our condolences go to his wife Giovanna, Bernardo Sestini and his family.

Doc 171/23 - Storage of Hydrogen in Systems Located Underground

(Revision of Doc 171/12)

This document addresses the safety issues that are specific to the storage of hydrogen in systems located underground.
This form of installation may be needed when it is beneficial to keep above ground areas free of equipment, such as may be the case for hydrogen vehicle refuelling stations.
However, it is preferable that wherever possible, hydrogen storage and related equipment is located above ground in the open air in a well ventilated area.
