"Smoking tobacco cigarettes is generally prohibited in all gas industry production, filling and distribution areas. Recent innovations in smoking cessation programmes have led to the introduction of “electronic cigarettes”.
EIGA’s Safety Advisory Council is concerned that the potential hazards of e-cigarettes when used in gas industry activities are not well recognized and consequently underestimated and has produced this Safety Information to highlight potential hazards and safety considerations.
The Safety Advisory Council recommends that EIGA members follow the same smoking rules or restrictions applied to conventional tobacco cigarettes in areas where gases are handled. This Safety Information is intended for all personnel involved in management and operation of production, filling and distribution areas."
